Abstract | This paper examines the collection and utilization of shells in handicraft production in Tuvalu. Of particular interest were those made by women living on the islands of Funafuti and Nukufetau (See Figure 1). These two islands were chosen for study because they are the major suppliers of shells and shell handicrafts. |
