| Abstract | Statistics on the income and expenditure of households in Kiribati was first collected in 1996. Following on from the 2005 Population Census, the National Statistics Office of Kiribati conducted a second Household Income and Expenditure Survey (HIES) in October 2006. The purpose of the HIES is to provide up-to-date statistical information on the social and economic activity of households which will inform policy and planning decisions of the government and international agencies. |
